Shoes 102 & 103
Location: On Exhibit with Haywood County Arts Council, Waynesville, NC
After Sari’s mom passed away, she was cleaning out the closets and came across some fantastic shoes for my project. I received a box with four pairs of shoes. This is the first pair I’ve cast.
What makes this pair particularly unique to Sari, is Sari is also a glass artist. She works almost exclusively with post-consumer recycled glass. So I decided to try making this pair of shoes with post-consumer recycled glass as well.
I added black powdered enamel to the base glass for Noire. The other shoe is without enamel as a colorant. The uppers had minor cracks running through the “leather” so I leaned in on the concept of Kintsugi, applying fine gold mica to the area where the leather was imperfect.
