We live on a relatively quite street, that I would describe more as a frontage road because it used to be a US highway until the DOT built a bypass. So there is a mix of housing and businesses, and quite a few folks unfortunately toss out their trash along the way.
One nice early spring day I was working in the garden close to the street. It’s full of trees, shrubs, has a little stream and a big rock. I was starting to clean up the leaves from the fall, and pick weeds when I came across this lonely black shoe. It was in pretty good shape for being outside. My instinct was to throw it out over the fence, maybe its owner would come along. Then I remembered, oh yeah, I’m working on a project with shoes. Seriously, sometimes the obvious escapes me. So, as you can see I saved it to make a glass shoe.
