Several years after the accident, after the clunky orthopedic shoes, after the different variations of protecting my ankle from harm, and after years of wearing slacks, I wanted to go out in a pair of shoes that could be worn with a skirt.
I found these slip-on black shoes. Not a dressy shoe, but somewhat removed from a shoe that implied what? Age? Disability? YES to both! I was able to wear these without a brace to stabilize my ankle.
These shoes went a long way to make me feel more comfortable going out with friends and getting, sort of, dressed up! They went a long way to stop the questions of ‘oh dear, what did you do to your ankle?’
