I picked up a pair of hot pink stilettos at the thrift shop because I knew Krista and Elaine would be sending heels for the project, and I needed to figure out how to make heels. When I put them in my cart, there was an older woman there giving me a very strange look. I said they were for an art project. She replied, “They’re very pretty.”
I don’t think she believed me.
The story goes on – this is such a fun shoe. I decided for the mate I needed to jazz it up a bit. So I added polkadots to the insole, and some extra texture (visual and tactile) to the leather upper. The added texture is like aging, the leather isn’t as smooth as it once was.
I really like how this shoe turned out, I didn’t rename it, but I love the way it appears to be ever so slightly collapsing, as if it’s under pressure.
